This is my submission to Macro Monday September 15, 2016 “Sweet Spot Squared.”

I use a vintage lens – so finding the sweet spot on google is not easy… I use the rule of thumb which is 2.5 - 3 stops from the lens maximum aperture. So on this F3.5, my sweet spot should be between F8 and F11 so I shot the image at F11 with no extension tube.

The original idea was to have an ant eating Maple syrup – the poor little bugger was so scared that she only wanted to get away. I kind of give her a little push to try to get her closer to the syrup but she ended up upside down in the maple syrup more scared than ever trying to get gat back on her leg. So, I decided to let the poor thing go its own way after I flip her back.

Next idea was a few hard candies which didn’t turn out too bad… I did settle on this one the coffee and sugar on a mirror outside with the cloud as background. I hope you like it.

The 50mm Zuiko Auto Macro F3.5 is designed primarily for close focusing to meet the photographer's most exacting definition demands for close-ups, copying work and macro -photography.
