Quietly Reflecting

            There is a solemnness as this elderly retired soldier takes time to reflect upon so many years ago, his sense of losses and successes that only he can understand.
It is almost as if the memories of war, and the many fallen comrades will never fade with age.

Memorial Day is a federal holiday in the United States for remembering the people who died while serving in the country's armed forces.  The holiday, which is observed every year on the last Monday of May, originated as Decoration Day after the American Civil War in 1868.
