This be a Nomad Bee - a photo on Flickriver

            I was taking photos of flowers in my garden this afternoon and found this insect.  It has such distinctive markings on its head / thorax yet I cannot find it in my insect book.

Feeding on a spring flower commonly called Forget-me-Not.

Sometimes known more commonly as Cuckoo Bees, these are social parasites - a term derived through their habit of taking food meant for the larvae of their host species. They are harmless to humans and do not sting.
