Sigma 150mm f/2.8 Macro - a photo on Flickriver

            I just got this lens for my new D700. This is wide open, which is kind of misleading. All macro lenses have some falloff at close focusing ranges. This one honestly reflects it in the EXIF, so this image is at f/3, even though the lens was wide open. It was still too close to get an actual f/2.8 aperture. It goes as low as f/5.6 when you're shooting really close.

Seems like a nice lens, though. The AF is really fast and silent. Quiter than the Nikon AF-S lenses I've owned, as far as I can tell. Nice bokeh. Seems sharp, especially considering this is wide open. It's a more compact lens than I expected, too. Maybe the ideal replacement for the trusty 135mm kit lens.
