            USMC M1511 Fast Attack Vehicle (FAV)

The U.S. Marine Corps M1511 Fast Attack Vehicle (FAV) is a variant of the Mercedes-Benz G Class military vehicle.  Advanced Vehicle Systems, an American company, used the G class base vehicle and configured it to meet Marine Corps requirements. Advanced Vehicle Systems has used this vehicle to create specialized platforms including fast attack, communications, ambulance, light cargo and command vehicle. The G Class is widely used around the world, including 50,000 vehicles in NATO service.  Advanced Vehicle Systems supplied 62 M1511 Fast Attack Vehicles to the Marine Corps under a contract awarded in July 1999. The contract required the expedited delivery of these vehicles. With its team partner, DaimlerChrysler, Advanced Vehicle Systems completed delivery of the vehicles to I Marine Expeditionary Force, II Marine Expeditionary Force, and III Marine Expeditionary Force by December 1999. Advanced Vehicle Systems also provided operator and maintenance training and contractor logistics support to the Marine Corps. Due to the success of the M1511 FAV meeting USMC mission requirements, the Marine Corps added an additional 30 vehicles to its fleet in 2000.
