61G Lava Flow Entering the Ocean - a photo on Flickriver

            The Kilauea volcano (on the Big Island of Hawaii) is currently pouring lava into the Ocean.  The stream of molten lava orignates at the Puʻu ʻŌʻō cone, and flows 8  miles downhill to reach the ocean.

The day I took these photographs, the flow rate was higher than normal.  The pictures are taken from a 100 foot high cliff overlooking ocean entry area (about 200 meters wide)

If you look closely, you can see the beach (and breaking waves) on the left side.  Multiple streams of lava flow down the "pali" (Hawaiian for cliff) to reach the sea.
