Priscilla, Queen of the Desert is a musical with a book by Australian film director-writer Stephan Elliott and Allan Scott, this was a rare moment on Broadway as the play featured a Transgender lead character by the name Bernadette Bassenger.

The musical opened on Broadway on 20 March 2011 at the Palace Theatre with previews beginning 28 February 2011, The Broadway production closed on June 24, 2012 after 23 previews and 526 performances.
