Coryphantha pulleineana SB33 - a photo on Flickriver

            This red dot is an extrafloral nectary gland and appears in flowering time.
Mexico - The only known location is the type location near Entronque, Huizache, San Luis Potosi .
The red dot just behind the spiniferous areol is a temporary extrafloral nectary gland. We can see them when the plant is on flower. This structure is peculiar to the genus Coryphantha. Due to nectary, Coryphanthas are very prone to black fungus attack.
