GAZ M23 engine - a photo on Flickriver

            And here it is - GAZ 13 Chaika motor shoe-horned into the engine bay of the M21 hull, to create the KGB street sleeper, the GAZ M23 Volga. 

It used the auto trans from the GAZ Chaika too, and this all alloy ohv V8 created plenty of straight line speed. Sadly, many comrades within the KGB didn't like the cars when used for their intended purpose - pursuit - as the wayward, oversteering handling made them difficult to drive.
