Comet P2/Encke and the Moon v2 - a photo on Flickriver

            Short-period comet P2/Encke and the crescent Moon were about 8 degrees apart in the dawn sky this morning, so I decided to set the alarm for 4am and head down to the local park to see if I could capture the pair. Here's the result: The comet is small and fairly faint (shining at about magnitude 7.8), but it's clearly visible in this image!
