Wooly Bear Caterpillar - a photo on Flickriver

            The Wooly Bear caterpillar is the caterpillar of the the Tiger or Isabella Moth (Isia isabella).  Nobody knows for sure about the variation in the brown bands but two of the theories are:  If the Band is Wide it will be a mild winter, If it is narrow it will be a severe winter.  Another theory says that if the band is wide it means that the caterpillar grew up in a dry environment and if it is narrow it grew in a wet environment.  
From the looks of this one it will be a mild winter, We will see!
