Wiki meint, dass Michelucci mit dieser Kirche ein Schlüsselwerk der organischen Architektur in Italien realisiert hat. 
Der Baumeister gehörte zu der avantgardistischen Architektenschule „Gruppo toscano“.

"Dem Andenken der Arbeiter gewidmet, die beim Bau der Autostrada del Sole ums Leben kamen, stellt die Kir-che im Werk Micheluccis eine Höhepunkt seiner polemisierenden Kritik gegen das rein formal »Gefällige« (»piacevolezza«) in der Architektur dar. Der neoexpressionistisch zerteilte Baukörper aus groben Hausteinen und Kupferbedachungen erhebt sich auf einem kreuzförmigen Grundriss."
