Ekuh Edmond Mbong - Sustainable Access to Education for Orphans and Vulnerable Children in Old Town Bamenda

            The increase in HIV/AIDS pandemic has greatly affected children in sub-Saharan African countries especially Cameroon. The number of orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) in Cameroon is increasing at an alarming rate. The concern here is the lack of access to quality basic education by OVC, especially those orphaned by HIV/AIDS. These children are not only deprived of schooling, basic health care, and proper nutrition because their caregivers cannot afford to provide for them, but extreme poverty also makes them prime targets for human trafficking, sexual slavery, forceful early marriages and more. 
Ekuh Edmond's project is to provide access to quality basic education for Orphans and Vulnerable Children in Old Town Bamenda in a sustainable manner. Under the banner of Eddy Hope Foundation, an NGO he co-founded and currently serves as Executive Director, in collaboration with MUSAB Cameroon, the project will train 20 caregivers of orphans and vulnerable children on small business management skills, provide them with seed money through a revolving fund and empower them to start micro enterprises. The proceeds will enable them to continuously provide the educational and other needs of the OVC as well as run other household operations.
Together with the Pollination Project, I am able to provide basic primary education to orphans and vulnerable children in my community. Thank you to the TPP for putting a smile on the faces of these amazing kids.
