Tiny fly on galled leaf of native California Coffeeberry

Hah - I was getting a photo of this galled leaf of native California Coffeeberry (Frangula californica aka Rhamnus californica) in the Rhamnaceae plant family when this tiny fly flew into my photo! You can see it right in the center of my photo above the hole in the leaf. I'm pretty sure it's a tiny Bee Fly (order Bombyliidae, Diptera) - maybe genus Geron, though it hardly matters. I believe the galled leaf is the work of a Midrib Gall Moth (Sorhagenia nimbosa) in the family Cosmopterigidae of the Lepidoptera. This one has an opening, but I'm not sure if the moth came out or a predator went in. I've only found a few of these galls this year, always on shrubs that have buds or are flowering or just finished. It's a real gall, not just a leaf-roller - see this photo.
