Sky Bridge - a photo on Flickriver

            I don't take a lot of photographs nowadays, so have not put much up on Flickr, but I do create two or three images a week.  Most of them are for the Adobe Photoshop forum that has a weekly 'Something For The Weekend' thread, the idea being that a high res source image is provided, and folk can create something that uses it.  You don't need to use Photoshop, but mainly Adobe apps are used, as well as some third party 3D apps like Blender.  About half of what I upload is Frame animations, and AFAIK we can't put animated GIFs on Flickr, but I thought it about time I shared some more of what I do here.

This one started with the train and tracks, and I used it as an opportunity to practice perspective drawing.  Everything other than the train and tracks is pure illustration, but using Photoshop tools plus some third party plugins.  I love Alien Skin's Eye Candy 7, and used it for the bridge texture and to develop the extrusion (pillar depth).  I had to do quite a lot of work to give that depth perspective, as Eye Candy does it with a uniform thickness.  Flaming Pear's Space Bundle is a bit clunky, but still useful, although it can't produce a decent sun.  That was taken care of with some custom brushes, but mostly with Pro Digital's Star Filter Pro.  Nothing else comes remotely close when it comes to creating flares, lights and sparkle.  I usually just want one flare, so I put a white dot on a black layer set to Screen.  I was quite pleased with this one, and is usually the case with these challenges, I learned a new trick or two with Photoshop.  

I'll try and put up some more of these.  I think the reason I have held back before, is that a lot of the source material is not my work, but it never looks the same as the original stock image, so I'll let that slide.
