Icelandic Memorial, Elfros SK (7) - a photo on Flickriver

            Day 82, Tues Aug 16: Much of this part of Saskatchewan was settled by Icelandic peoples seeking the promise of a better life. The catch was they had to accept their land sight-unseen and farm it. Icelanders are not natural farmers by any means, so the early days were filled with hardship.
