Menorca Spain is a beautiful island in the Mediteranean with miles of untouched beaches and a wonderful climate making it an ideal destination for a holiday. The Balearic island of Menorca Spain is much smaller than neighbouring Majorca and Ibiza and is a a peaceful destination ideal for those who travel to escape the loud bars of the Balearic islands to enjoy the natural environment, warm seas and soothing sun. Only 48kms from tip to toe the island of Menorca is ideal for walking, cycling and horse riding, not to forget the miles of fabulous beaches. inlets with clear turquoise blue water and coves. The island is rugged with many small beaches and rocky outcrops. The sands are reddish and pines grow abundantly. The small islands off Menorcas northern coast are home to some rare species such as the wall lizard as well as wild rabbits and goats and marine birds such as shearwaters, Audouin gulls and Blue Rock Thrushes. The north is also home to many dune and wetland systems including the nature reserve of albufera de Es Grau. Menorca is laid back and offers many golden opportunities for Naturists on its unspoiled shores. There are several naturist beaches around the island where Nudity is permitted but not required.

A lighthouse is called a far in Catalan or faro in Spanish. The lighthouse Cap d'Artrutx is located at the end of Plaça Far in the town of Cap d'Artrutx. Cap d'Artrutx is the southwesternmost point of Menorca, and unlike most points of land in the Balearics it is quite low. From this point you can see the island Majorca at 40km distance. The lighthouse was build in 1859. In accordance with the 4th order in the Plan of 1847, this signal was aligned with the Capdepera Light on the island of Mallorca marking the channel which separates Mallorca and Menorca at it’s narrowest point. The tower was doubled in height in 1970 and it's active; focal plane 45 m.
