The weather round weather Lake Garda is always unpredictable. It is not unusual for the lake weather to be split between North and South with the South clear and further north being more affected by the mountains. The total length is 51.6 km. Sometimes it drops all its rain on the North side nearby Austria and nothing on the Italian side. The weather at the North end of the lake is extremely affected by the prevailing Alpine weather. Generally get 2 types of weather front around the lake. Either an Alpine front that comes over from Austria. This type of front can bring pleasant warm spring weather or can actually still be hanging on to heavy storms. Another type of front generally goes West to East across Italy sitting on the Southern side of the Alps. If its a bad front then the whole of the lake suffers. Throughout May when there are periods of pleasant warm weather then it is also not unusual to get freak Hailstorms of biblical proportion across the whole of the lake.Later in summer prolonged with fine weather at high temps then Thunderstorms of a biblical nature also not unusual. These tend to be spectacular but short lived. Sometimes its been glorious the last 2 weeks and other times glad to see you brought the sun with you. There are no doubt many people who have been there in May and had enjoyable weather but this doesn't mean it is the norm. Likewise there are people who have been to the lake in August and it has been wet and miserable.

The summer brings in Toscolano Maderno the most opportunity for outdoor adventures but weather around Lake Garda can be unpredictable since it is located near the Alps. After a warm day it is not unusual to get freaky thunderstorm. We have a spectacular view high above Lake Garda from our Residence - I Limoni di Rustichel - located next to Maclino.

Omdat het weer langs het Gardameer in de zomerperiode sterke overeenkomsten heeft met het weerbeeld langs de Italiaanse kusten en de Franse Riviera wordt dit gebied vaak ten onrechte ingedeeld bij de gebieden met een mediterraan ofwel Middellandse Zeeklimaat. In de wintermaanden is het kil en guur langs het Gardameer, maar kunnen plaatsen als Sirmione, Lazise en Salo nog steeds schilderachtig mooi zijn als de donkere wolken zich samenpakken boven het meer en sterk contrast vormen met de kleurige panden langs de waterkant. Sneeuw is geen zeldzaamheid. Over het algemeen is de noordkant kan het meer koeler en minder zonnig dan de zuidkant. In het voorjaar worden de eerste zomerse dagen waargenomen en kan het al gedurende langere periodes lekker zonnig en warm zijn. Echter zijn periodes met dagenlang regen en sombere donkergrijze luchten ook zeer goed mogelijk. Als de omslag naar het zomerse weer echter definitief plaatsgevonden heeft dan neemt de kans op onbestendig weer snel af en is het Gardameer één van de mooiste plekken van Europa om te vertoeven. In de zomermaanden is het druk en warm langs het meer. De meeste dagen loopt de thermometer op naar temperaturen rond de dertig graden en ook 's avonds koelt het minder stek af omdat de temperatuur van het water in het meer flink oploopt. Als er regen valt in de zomer is het vrijwel altijd in de vorm van regen- en onweersbuien die soms zeer heftig kunnen zijn. De herfstkleuren in combinatie met aangenaam nazomerweer, een lokaal wijntje en een heerlijk bordje Italiaans eten maken het najaar zeer aantrekkelijk voor toeristen.
