Hunter Whale Moon - a photo on Flickriver

Hunter Whale Moon

            The first Full-Moon for 2017 set on January 13, 2017 at 744AM. 
 The Choctaw Indians call it "The Cooking Moon" while the Dakotah Sioux named it "The Moon of The Terrible". 
 The moon photo was taken on Almond Street - West Island, where a flag pole has a traditional whale/weathervane ornament at the top. For those who fly flags, this poses a great risk to entanglement but haven't seen it yet here. Herb Hunter proudly flies the American flag off this freshly painted pole on the north side of the causeway that greets visitors to the island. Thus, I entittled the photo "Hunter's Whale Moon". 
 ML's Note: Ironically shotgun blasts echoed through the area as hunters blasted away at ducks.
 The temperature was 45.8F and the wind chill 40 degrees as a gust of 27MPH at 633AM introduced a cold front that passed through and the wind shifted to the northwest. The ocean temp read 40 degrees. MLBaron Photo for The West Island Weather Station
