Laut "Maserati, Sports, Racing, & GT Cars" wurden vom Maserati Rennsportwagen Tipo 53 (350S) vier Exemplare gebaut: in einem modifizierten 300S-Fahrgestell steckte ein Sechszylinder-Reihenmotor mit 3,5 Liter Hubraum und zwei oben liegenden Nockenwellen, der 325 PS bei 6.000 Touren produzierte. Das erste Chassis bekam 1956 die Nummer 3501, der Bromberger-Wagen hat Chassisnummer 3503. Es handelt sich um eine Rekonstruktion oder doch Wiederaufbau des Werkswagens von Hans Hermann. Dieser startete 1957 mit dem 350S in der Mille Miglia. Auf einer geraden vor Ferrara ließ sich plötzlich ein Rad nicht mehr steuern. Er war heilfroh, dass er den Wagen aus vollem Speed zwischen den Alleebäumen noch unbeschädigt zum Stehen bringen konnte. [Quelle: Ennstal-Classic]
