Freesia alba

            Freesia alba és una planta herbàcia bulbosa del gènere Freesia dins la familia de les Iridàcies (Iridaceae). Es tracta d´una familia cosmopolita que es troba sobretot a les regions tropicals i temperades con a l´Àfrica, Amèrica del sud i part de la Mediterrània més oriental. Són herbàcies vivaces, és a dir, perennes amb les parts aèries anuals i els rizomes o bulbs persistents.
 
Freesia alba is a species of flowering plant in the iris family. It is native to South Africa, but this species and hybrids are known on other continents where they have been introduced. Freesia alba is an herbaceous perennial growing from a corm and producing an erect, often branched stem up to 40 cm (16 in) centimeters tall with several leaves up to about 15 centimeters long. The inflorescence is a spike of several fragrant flowers with usually white tepals marked with yellow and purple.
 
Freesia es un género de plantas bulbosas de la familia Iridaceae. Comprende aproximadamente 15 especies nativas de África (12 de ellas nativas de la provincia del Cabo, Sudáfrica), todas ellas con cormos de 1 a 2,5 cm de diámetro. Típicamente estas especies vegetan durante el invierno, florecen en la primavera y permanecen en reposo duante la estación cálida.
