The End of Dreams, Ghost Town, Rhyolite in Nevada

            After Gold was discovered in 1904 in the area, several mining camps quickly grew.  In 1905, the town Rhyolite was founded and became the city of dreams; dreams of gold and prosperity, and turning into a modern town with indoor plumbing, electricity, and other luxuries.  

In 1907, estimated population was 5,000-8,000 with 3 railroads, 50 saloons, 19 lodging houses, etc. 

However, the dream was short lived.  The mines began to fail and by 1910, people were leaving and mines were closing.  

Today, most of town has disappeared from the landscape.  Some buildings were moved to new town, others fell down or were taken apart from their materials.
