Built by WPA and CCC at Catoctin Mountain Park in Maryland

            There are 33 cabins including dining hall and camp office, which were joint effort of Works Progress Administration (WPA) and Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in the Camp Misty Mount area of Catoctin Mountain Park. 

The WPA began building the Catoctin Recreation Demonstration Area during the winter of 1936.  The first CCC workers arrived at Catoctin on April 1, 1939.  

The WPA and CCC units completed their final project in 1941, on the event of the US entry into World War II. 

According to the park ranger, WPA contributed more work for building cabins.  CCC did more work for planting trees and building trails.  

In 1954 the park was divided along MD Rt. 77, which was originally Indian road.  To the north is Catoctin Mountain Park, which remains in the National Park System.  To the south is Cunningham Falls State Park, managed by the Maryland Park Service.  

Cabins open from March to October for rentals.
