Solar Eclipse (2012)

            My micro 4/3 mounted on a 400mm f/5.6 lens gave me:

An angle-of-view equivalent to an 800mm on a 35mm camera.
A minimum ISO 100
A maximum shutter speed of 1/4000 second
The ability to use neutral density filters to obtain an effective f/stop of f/180
The ability to use the LCD to compose without the operational hassle and time-limit of my digital SLR LCD

One surprise for me was the big difference (11 f/stops) in exposure between the 2005 solar eclipse I shot at midday and the 2012 image shot at sundown. The 2005 image was shot with a neutral density filter at 1/8000 second and f/45 effective f/stop. The 2012 image was shot with no neutral density filters at 1/125 second and f/8 actual f/stop. ISO 100 was used for both shots.
