Kirche St. Laurentius - a photo on Flickriver

            Die evangelische St.Laurentiuskirche in Steinkirchen ist die älteste Kirche im Wolfachtal. Die einschiffige gotische Hallenkirche wurde 1478 neu geweiht. Sie geht auf eine sehr viel ältere romanische Vorgängerkirche zurück, von der noch die vier Untergeschosse des Turmes stammen. Sehenswert sind die alten Fresken, die 1921 wieder freigelegt wurden.
Außerdem befindet sich in der Kirche eine historische Orgel des Passauer Orgelbauers Georg Adam Ehrlich aus dem Jahre 1842. Sie kommt als eine der letzten ihrer Art u.a. bei den Konzerten zu Gehör. Das Altarbild (1450/60) und die beiden Seitenflügel (um 1530) sind Leihgaben des Bayerischen Nationalmuseums München.
Zahlreiche historische Grabsteine und Epitaphien belegen, dass die Kirche von der Reformation bis heute vor allem als Friedhofskirche diente. 

The Protestant St. Laurentius Church in Steinkirchen is the oldest church in the Wolfachtal. The single-nave Gothic hall church was rededicated in 1478. It goes back to a much older Romanesque previous church, from which the four basement floors of the tower still come. The old frescoes, which were exposed again in 1921, are worth seeing.
In addition, there is a historic organ in the church by the Passau organ builder Georg Adam Ehrlich from 1842. It is one of the last of its kind to arrive. to be heard at the concerts. The altarpiece (1450/60) and the two side wings (around 1530) are on loan from the Bavarian National Museum in Munich.
Numerous historical gravestones and epitaphs show that the church was primarily used as a cemetery church from the Reformation to this day.
