A mass gathering of frogs hell-bent on procreation can only be described as frenzied chaos. Although the spawn is laid in quite small, compact blobs it quickly swells when it comes into contact with the water. As it swells it rises to the surface, where the  top layer of eggs are clearly visible.

The considerable masses of spawn receive some rough treatment from the frogs whilst they remain in the breeding pond. Spawn gets bumped into, kicked, rested on, climbed onto and even swum through. 

If you view this image large, you will see the frog in the foreground has obviously moved through some spawn. The black ‘studs’ on it’s skin are the embryos from several eggs which have been stretched to their limits.
