Bathpool Park, Kidsgrove, Staffordshire

            A 4 shot stitch from the southern end of Bathpool in North Staffordshire. The park is a fine recreation area with rugby pitches, childrens play area, artificial ski slope and extensive woodland with plenty of wildlife. It is a reservoir originally built to provide water as part of the cooling process for the nearby Birchenwood works opened in the 1890s. Here the by products of coal (gas, tar, benzines, coke etc.) were extracted.  Production ceased in May 1973.
