TC-16a With or without? - a photo on Flickriver

            I read somewhere that it may be better to use a prime lens without a converter and crop, since the original lens will be of a much higher quality. Here is my test, judge for yourself! The results were consistant no matter which Nikon teleconverter and prime lens combination I used. The "target"(!) was at a distance of 10 metres the lens was an old mf 300mm ai set at f4. A tripod was used and the D750 camera set on manual. The smallest writing is around font size 5. It didn't matter whether I'd used the tc-16a in manual or autofocus mode. (Wonderful: just roughly set the focus and let the tc finish the job of focusing. Here, however, I focused manually.)
