Twisted up in the game DSC_8009 - a photo on Flickriver

            This shot is from the archives, I always meant to post it but I had been posting a lot of Elvis (Red-shouldered hawk) and somehow missed this one. 

Currently, I am looking through the archives for a couple of reasons, one because I'm going to have pillows made from a couple of my images for the living room and the other is because I just haven't had time to get out and shoot lately.

Anyway, on this magical day a few years back, Elvis had come to visit.  He landed in a branch of oak one just above where I was standing with the camera nearby, while watering some plants.  He allowed me to take several shots while he was surveying his prospects for lunch.  

After taking several shots, I had decided to leave him to his business and go about mine.  After all, my chores weren't going to take care of themselves.  So around oak one I went with the camera and water hose in tow.  

Suddenly Elvis dropped from the branch into the yard within about six feet of me.  I chatted with him a bit as he starting hopping towards the pond.  I backed up and took several shots just because he said I could.  

In this image he had been checking out the pond but apparently heard something of interest behind him.  It was a lizard, Elvis became quite twisted up in the game of hunting for a moment. I thought I was going to get a few action shots.   

However, he didn't go for the lizard.  Once again, he began checking out the pond as if he were interested in something more substantial than a lizard.  Perhaps he was in the mood for a frog instead.  Elvis eventually gave up and left the yard with an empty belly.  

Oh how I miss this particular RSH.  He was so friendly and always allowed images to be taken.  Others visit but they leave as soon as I enter the yard and they rarely stop by when I am out.  

Magical moments come and go, I hope I am always able to appreciate them.  Taking images sure helps me remember them.
