            Herons are gray or white wading bird with long neck which can move into and S-shape, long legs and long harpoon-like sharp bill. They appear on all continents except Antarctica

Frankfurt am Main: Der Rechneigrabenweiher wurde vor mehr als 200 Jahren aus Überbleibseln der Befestigungsgräben als Löschwasserbecken genutzt, allerdings gibt es auch viele ausgesprochene Zugvögel in der Familie; der Graureiher ist ein Teilzieher; aus Mitteleuropa ziehen 25 bis 45 % in die afrikanischen Winterquartiere, aus Schweden 70 %; hingegen sind die Graureiher auf den Britischen Inseln Standvögel
