The ferryman's hut in Alnmouth - a photo on Flickriver

            The ferryman’s hut in this photograph was used by the ferryman John Brown up until the late sixties. The ferryman used to charge customers to ferry them across the river Aln to church hill. Please take a look at my recent photographs of church hill and Alnmouth, where this hut is situated, there’s an excellent view of Alnmouth from church hill.  John Brown used to charge three old pennies to take passengers across the Aln and if the tide was low it was two old pennies. The ferryman’s hut is now probably one of the smallest museums I have ever seen in my life but it’s really nice that it’s still there.
