The Heart Nebula (IC1805) - a photo on Flickriver

            Description

The nebula is located 7,500 light-years from Earth in the Perseus arm of the galaxy.  The star cluster at its centre is called Melotte-15.  It comprises a group of very young, hot, blue supergiant stars and is only 1.5 million years old. Mighty stellar winds from this cluster have blown the enormous bubble within the parent HII region that is the Heart Nebula.  They have also  transformed the dust clouds of the nebula into numerous interesting V-shaped ridges and other shapes, within which smaller stars are still forming.

The image was taken with an ASI ZWO 1600mm-cool camera with a TS71 refractor.

It was composed of numerous short duration (60s) Hydrogen Alpha, R,G and B combined subs taken @ -25deg C over several nights and calibrated with dark and flat frames.
