            'Twas a lovely summer day. A few puffy clouds moved lazily over a deep blue sky. Patch bounced aimlessly across a field, listening to crickets and birds playing their June tune, when she suddenly heard a new sound. Someone distinctly calling for help. 

She scanned the sea of grass and flowers to localize the caller in distress. A very peculiar head with two alert ears stuck up over the nodding daisies. What kind of animal was that? She hurried over, filled with wonder. 

Diesel: How do you do? 

Patch: Oh? I do well thank you. How do you do?

Diesel: Terribly as you can see. *looking around him with dismay.*

Patch: Hm.. Are you allergic? 

Diesel: No, I'm a Bull Terrier. 

Patch: Great! Is that like a dog or more like a donkey? 

Diesel: Can I pick both? I am technically a dog, but my friends say I'm stubborn like a donkey. They also say I'm pretty. 

Patch: Haha, I think you're funny! 

Diesel: Then you should see me spin. Who are you again? 

Patch: Oh, I'm sorry. I'm very bad mannered my mum tells me. I'm Patch Wetherby. 

Diesel: Great! Is that like a girl or more like a boy? *wink* 

Patch: Huh!? Aah Hahaha!! You ARE funny. Can I be both? 

Diesel: Sure! As long as you help me out of this predicament. 

Patch: You bet! What is it exactly?

"In memory of my beloved Bull Terrier, Diesel." 

(Bull Terriers were developed in England during the 19th century.) I had a Bull Terrier for ten wonderful years and he was the most kindhearted dog I've ever had. 

He evoke such strong reactions in people we met. Either hate/fear or love/joy. Seldom anything in between. Some people were very rude... Others incredibly kind.

Anyway, I loved that peculiar looking dog.

Now to the predicament above. 

Bull Terriers has a lot of funny ideas. One is that they can't move if grass touches their sides.  (An old gene from back in the day when "they" lived on the savannah.) It could suddenly "kick in" and I had to carry him away from it. 

So, Patch was kind and carried him to a better spot, where he showed her how to spin.
