Description: Felis silvestris catus is an animal in the class Mammalia, order Carnivora, superfamily Felinoidea, family Felidae, subfamily Felinae and tribe Felini. They can live from 15 to 20 years. Their brain weights 30 grams and possesses a complex structure and cognitive apparatus, allowing the animal to perform various actions that are signs of intelligence. They are also able to communicate with great diversity, including body language. The brain of a cat is interestingly similar to a human brain, possessing sectors responsible to different kinds of emotions. In their natural habitat, the domestic cat is a natural predator of birds, rodents, a few reptiles and insects. There are six species in the Felis genus: Felis bieti, Felis manul, Felis margarita, Felis chaus, Felis silvestris and Felis nigripes . There is also one subspecies, the domestic cat, Felis silvestris catus.
