Royal Navy Rescue Helicopter in Glen Nevis, Lochaber.

            Commentary.

Dwarfed by the south-westerly slopes of Ben Nevis
and above the pasture beside the River Nevis,
a fully-fledged training exercise was underway.
Lochaber and particularly the Nevis Range
require frequent rescue response calls.
Poor kit, fast changing weather conditions,
poor visibility, exhaustion, injury,
darkness, and in winter, avalanches,
are just some of factors as to why walkers and climbers
get into difficulties, that require air-rescue
to Fort William or Inverness Hospitals.
Such crew and volunteers deserve so much praise 
for their courage and expertise in saving hundreds of lives every year.
These mountains deserve respect.
Knowledge, preparation, information, maps, compasses
and appropriate kit are required if our own lives
and that of innocent others, are not to be risked, recklessly and unnecessarily.
