Kayaking on Loch Lubnaig under hills forest and a Quarter Moon.

            Commentary.

Set in the historic County of Perthshire, now in the Stirling District, Loch Lubnaig is unusual,  insofar as it runs, more or less, north to south.
Due to fault-lines, geology and glacier flow  most glens and lochs run west to east or south-west to north-east.
Loch Lomond and Loch Treig come to mind as further exceptions.
Lubnaig also comes within the boundaries of the “Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park,” and is on the fringes of the “Queen Elizabeth Forest.” It is also relatively shallow.
Two “deeps” reach a mere 30 metres.
Some larger lochs exceed 200 metres in more than one site.
In some places, it could almost be possible, to wade across its breadth.
And yet, its forested, shapely hills and its dog-lend bend,
half way down its length, ensure a variety of compelling vistas.
Here, kayakers, paddling north, emerge from the river called Garbh Uisge, on to its calm waters, under rocky summits,
Coniferous Plantations and a Quarter Moon.
