            Commentary.

Depths of winter.
1950’s reservoir, Loch Glascarnoch,
reflects the icy blue of a December day.
Cloud-shrouded Beinn Dearg is iced to its summit.
Corries and arêtes appear and disappear
as the clouds fall and rise in this frozen scene.
As long as roads are passable,
and the snow-ploughs have done their work,
a trip from Inverness to Ullapool,
even in late December, is a fantasy ride
of colour, grandeur and atmosphere.
