Wind vanes | Windvanen - a photo on Flickriver

Along the harbor channel and on the Kromme Hoek, hikers and cyclists take advantage of the colorful view offered by the work of French artist Daniel Buren called ‘Le Vent Souffle Où Il Veut’. One hundred flagpoles with the same number of weather vanes form the impressive work of art that is also visible to the boat crews, sailing in and out of the channel. Whoever walks or plays between the masts gets a completely different view of the work, as if you were in a colored forest. Buren chose ten different RAL colors that he had mounted to the masts in alphabetical order: from dark blue to purplish red to meadow green. Burens in-situ work comes to full effect in the (windy) outside air.

Langs de havengeul en op de Kromme Hoek genieten wandelaars en fietsers van het kleurrijke uitzicht van 'Le Vent Souffle Où Il Veut' door de Franse kunstenaar Daniel Buren. Honderd vlaggenmasten met daaraan evenveel windhanen vormen het imposante kunstwerk dat ook zichtbaar is voor de bemanning van de boten die in en uit de geul varen. Wie dan weer tussen de masten wandelt of speelt als een kind, krijgt een heel ander zicht op het werk, alsof je in een gekleurd bos vertoeft. Buren koos voor tien verschillende kleuren uit het RAL-spectrum die hij in alfabetische volgorde aan de masten liet monteren: van donkerblauw naar paarsachtig rood tot weidegroen. Burens in-situ werk komt tot zijn recht in de (winderige) buitenlucht.

Le long du chenal portuaire et sur la presqu’île Kromme Hoek, promeneurs et cyclistes profitent de la vue colorée qu’offre l’œuvre de l’artiste français Daniel Buren baptisée 'Le Vent Souffle Où Il Veut'. Cent mâts de pavillon avec autant de girouettes forment l’imposante œuvre d’art, également visible par l’équipage des bateaux qui entrent et sortent du chenal. Le visiteur qui se promène ou qui joue comme un enfant entre les mâts a une toute autre vue de l’œuvre, comme s’il évoluait dans une forêt colorée. Pour les girouettes, Daniel Buren a choisi dix couleurs du spectre RAL, qu’il a fait monter sur les mâts par ordre alphabétique : du bleu foncé au vert prairie en passant par le rouge violacé. L’œuvre permanente est parfaitement mise en valeur au grand air (venteux).
