Beware of old signs on Highways - a photo on Flickriver

            Off a lonely stretch of Interstate 78, down a pothole laden side road, stands a weathered sign that once beckoned weary travelers for a well earn respite.  Off to the left is a mucky field where the Inn once stood as a dimly lit comfort for those too tired to drive another mile.  

 After a series of tragic and unexplained events, the Inn was shuttered and leveled to erase the painful memories that haunt this tainted land.  It’s been years, but there are still whispers of the horrors from Room 6.  Screams curdled the souls of those who stood by and did nothing.  Bloody streaks along the rear window traced the path of fingers desperate to escape these ceremonies.  Rhythmic cadences in a ancient tongues build and build in Room 6; masking the shrieks for mercy.  Locals just turned their heads and walked away, too afraid to confront the eccentric owners that drained their highway prey.  They knew better.

The Inn is now only a fading memory, except for the ravaged sign that still calls out to the interstate.  No one knows what became of the owners for certain, but rumor has it they move a few miles west to another nearly nameless Pennsylvania town along the highway...
