Copper Chafer - Kupfer-Rosenkäfer - a photo on Flickriver

            Protaetia cuprea belongs to the family Scarabaeidae and has a length of 14 - 23 mm. The species is widespread throughout Europe extending from Asia Minor and Russia as far as the Pacific. In Europe alone there are about 20 sub-species. The beetles can be found on meadows and edges of forests. They fly from May through July.
