            Malar Trust Onlus è una associazione fondata nel 2006 per realizzare progetti di istruzione, educazione e assistenza sociale e sanitaria a favore dei bambini più poveri dell’India del sud.

Tramite l’associazione gemella Malar Trust India opera in diversi villaggi del distretto di Kanchipuram, nello stato meridionale indiano del Tamil Nadu.

Malar Trust Onlus è una associazione laica, fondata da amici che, colpiti dalle poverissime condizioni di vita viste nel corso di numerosi viaggi in India, già dal 2003 hanno iniziato a sostenere con fondi propri piccoli progetti nella zona. Con il crescere del numero dei sostenitori, hanno deciso di fondare l’associazione per dare una base più stabile alle iniziative, mettendo a frutto le conoscenze sviluppate nel tempo sul posto.

Il nome dell’associazione è stato scelto dai bambini del primo doposcuola: nella loro lingua, il Tamil, Malar significa fiore, e infatti il logo di Malar Trust è un fiore che sboccia dalle pagine di un libro aperto, simbolo della speranza che il sostegno all’educazione dei giovani – in particolare delle bambine – possa migliorare le future condizioni di vita delle comunità più disagiate.

Malar Trust Onlus raccoglie in Italia le donazioni da destinare ai progetti in India, di cui coordina la gestione. Malar Trust India segue la gestione operativa dei progetti e propone nuove aree di intervento.

Malar Trust Onlus opera solo grazie alle donazioni dei privati: amici, simpatizzanti, imprese. Tutti i fondi raccolti in Italia sono spesi nelle attività in India. L’associazione non ha costi amministrativi e di struttura in Italia e i membri del consiglio direttivo coprono con propri fondi le spese per i viaggi in India.

Malar Trust Onlus is an association founded in 2006 to carry out education, education and social and health care projects for the poorest children of southern India.

Through the sister association Malar Trust India, it operates in several villages in the district of Kanchipuram, in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu.

Malar Trust Onlus is a secular association, founded by friends who, affected by the very poor living conditions seen during numerous trips to India, have already started supporting small projects in the area with their own funds since 2003. As the number of supporters grew, they decided to found the association to give a more stable base to the initiatives, making use of the knowledge developed over time on the spot.

The name of the association was chosen by the children of the first after school: in their language, Tamil, Malar means flower, and in fact the Malar Trust logo is a flower that blooms from the pages of an open book, a symbol of hope that support education of young people - especially girls - can improve the future living conditions of the most disadvantaged communities.

Malar Trust Onlus collects in Italy the donations to be assigned to projects in India, of which it coordinates the management. Malar Trust India follows the operational management of the projects and proposes new areas of intervention.

Malar Trust Onlus operates only thanks to donations from private individuals: friends, supporters, businesses. All funds raised in Italy are spent on activities in India. The association has no administrative and structural costs in Italy and the members of the board of directors cover the expenses for travel to India with their own funds.
