Dutch Polder - The water mill - a photo on Flickriver

A small series about the Dutch Polder. The third one in the series.

An image of one of the many modern wind water mills that can be found in the Dutch polders.

Mainly used to drain a small piece of land to keep it dry. 1150 of this modern type can be found in the Netherlands.

Made of an iron base consisting out of a vane pump driven by 4 aluminum blades with a diameter of 3 meter (10ft). The mill has a capacity of 60 cubic meter / hour (15850 gallon/hour) depending of the wind speed and working head.
