Snail kite (Milan des marais) - a photo on Flickriver

My first encounter with this amazing raptor, and I got to see him in action.  He was standing on a post in a marsh area when I spotted him. As I sat down at a reasonable distance, he then quickly took off and grab something from the water and flew back in some small dead tree to enjoy his catch.
