L’église Saint Michel de Saint-Micaud faisait partie de l’Archidiaconé de Chalon et de l’Archiprêtré de la Montagne, puis de celui du Mont Saint Vincent.
Au début du XIXème, en 1836, l’église est «dans un état d’abandon et de dégradation ». Des travaux de restauration furent engagés en 1893 grâce à la vente des matériaux de l’église en ruines du Puley (alors rattaché à Saint-Micaud).
En 1956, l’Abbé Béseau entreprend la restauration intérieure de l’église avec la participation de la population.
