Panoramic Train (Emosson VD/Switzerland)

            The visit to the Emosson dam on the heights of Châtelard has allowed you to take three interesting types of transport operated by the company Verticalp SA since 1975. The first is the Châtelard funicular, built in 1919, which allows you to go from 1125 to 1825m above sea level over a length of 1.3km with a gradient reaching 87%, making it one of the steepest installations in the world. The old aluminium cars without windows were replaced in the early 2010s with modern, safer cars. The second is a small panoramic train on Decauville track (60cm) with a length of 1.65km operated using accumulator locomotives. The latest is the Minifunic, which opened in 1991. It is a type of rail elevator with a length of 0.26 km, starting from the foot of the dam (arrival point of the panoramic train) at an altitude of 1,820 m and reaching the summit at 1,960 m.

The photo shows the starting point of the Petit Train Panoramic in Les Montuires. The carriages used are almost identical to those used by the Petit Train d'Artouste in the French Pyrenees.

La visite du barrage d'Emosson sur les hauteurs du Châtelard permet d'emprunter depuis 1975 trois types de transports intéressants exploités par la société Verticalp SA, Le premier est le funiculaire du Châtelard construit en 1919 qui permet de passer de 1125 à 1825m d'altitude sur 1.3km de longueur avec une pente atteignant 87% en faisant l'une des installations les plus raides au Monde. Les anciennes voitures en aluminium sans fenêtres ont été remplacées au début des années 2010 des voitures modernes plus sécurisées. Le deuxième est un petit train panoramique sur voie Decauville (60cm) d'une longueur de 1.65km exploité à l'aide de locomotives à accumulateurs. Le dernier est le Minifunic mis en service en 1991 qui est une sorte d'ascenseur sur rail d'une longueur de 0.26km partant du pied du barrage (arrivée du train panoramique) à 1820m d'altitude pour atteindre le sommet à 1960m.

La photo montre le point de départ du petit train panoramique aux Montuires. Les voitures utilisées sont quasiment identiques à celles utilisées par le petit train d'Artouste dans les Pyrénées françaises.
