Hollinwood Cemetery, Lancashire, Private T Stott 1916

            Private Thomas Stott , son of George and Mary Stott, served in the 3rd. [Special Reserve] Btn. Manchester Regiment and died on the 2nd. June 1916 of wounds received on the 1st. April 1916, aged 19. 

He died in Grimsby and District Hospital, the cause of death being a compound fracture of skull and right shoulder,
fracture of left leg and other wounds. Pycemia.
His body was taken home by his family to be buried in Hollinwood Cemetery.

The regiment had been sent to Cleethorpes to shore up east coast defences and on the 1st. April 1916 a Zeppelin bombed Cleethorpes causing many casualties and deaths. 
Another local lad, John Henry Corfield, of the same battalion was injured in the same incident and died 6 days later.
He is also buried in Hollinwood Cemetery and was 19.
