Boulders - a photo on Flickriver

Boulders

            Take the lighthouse away and this photograph reminds me of some of the early black and white shots of Mars by NASA. The light is similar because it is so early in the morning that it approximates the dimmer light on the red planet.

These boulders provide a wonderful play of light and shadow. Unlike the Dolerite rocks I have previously mentioned, these are smoother and almost black and granite-like.

So for just a moment, imagine we are on a visit to Mars with the Viking Landers.
