A Butterfly Is Born - DSC_4245-1 - a photo on Flickriver

            I witnessed the metamorphosis of an Eastern Black Swallowtail in my yard. I noticed the caterpillar on my Rue plant and as the days went on I saw it grow into an adult, then its pre-pupal stage and its chrysalis. 11 days later, it emerged from the chrysalis. I was so excited to be a part of its rebirth. Here you see the newly born butterfly resting on my sunflower as its wings dry. I called it Chrys and we spent some time together before it flew away, lol :)
