Scaly pholiota (Pholiota squarrosa) - a photo on Flickriver

            The Scaly pholiota (Pholiota squarrosa) grows in dense clumps, in this case on a fallen alder in a Douglas fir forest. They are not edible and are considered in some books to be poisonous.
