Great White Pelican called Gargi. St James's Park, London.

            This was the only pelican on view when I visited St James's Park recently. I thought they were all wing clipped until this one took off! Apparently this one was 'wild', turning up in Southend in 1996, and was donated to the park. The other ones are kept on an island at the moment to reduce the chances of bird flu from eating the pigeons! This one regularly flies over to London Zoo to pinch fish at feeding times before returning.
Pelicans were first gifted here in 1664.
